A Quick Sojourn

This may be the first time that many of you have heard this, but I am actually going to be gone for the next 1.5 weeks on a whirlwind adventure!  OK, it’s not really a whirlwind, but it’s definitely an adventure.  UCL has their “Fall Break” next week, meaning there are no classes the whole week; to any study abroad student, that means trip time.

Our team of 6 will be leaving Friday morning bound for Paris, where we will be taking in all the sights of the city and enjoying crepes and fine pastries.  After 3.5 days in Paris, we head north to Brussels, where we will be enjoying chocolates and waffles and taking in all the sights of the city.  During our time in Brussels, we will be taking a trip to Bruges, which is supposed to be a beautiful canal city that still has much of its medieval architecture intact.  After 3 days in Belgium, we hop over to Amsterdam, where we will be enjoying pancakes and cheeses, and perhaps taking in all the sights of the city if we have some time.  (Hopefully by now you get the gist of my emphasis of this trip!)  We’re in Amsterdam for 3.5 days before heading back to London to get back to academic life.  Don’t worry, I’ll keep a food diary during our trip and let you know the best of what each city offers.

If anybody has any recommendations for places to go in any of these cities, we’re very open to suggestions!  We have some Europe travel books, and the NYT/Frommers recommended list, but personal references are always worth so much more.

I’ll post again before we leave, but I just wanted to let you know my plans for the next week or so.  I’m really looking forward to this trip, and I’m sure it will even be better than I imagine!
