Interlaken

Interlaken is so named for its position between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz – literally, inter-lakes.  Like each of our destinations, it was a photographer’s dream: lovely Swiss architecture, shimmering blue lakes, and towering mountains above (as I previously mentioned, the Swiss pattern).  We took the cogwheel railway around a mountain loop including Wengen, Kleine Scheidegg, and Grindelwald – each beautiful in their own right.  The Oberland Region is known for its skiing, but the unusually warm weather and so-so snow conditions made us happy that we were in walking shoes rather than ski boots.  We will certainly have to return for a true Swiss ski vacation!
