Lausanne

The next organization on my visitation list was SwissTransplant in Bern, Switzerland.  I took some time before my meeting to explore a bit of western Switzerland, visiting Lausanne, Montreux, Bern, and Geneva.

Lausanne is a small hamlet on the shores of Lake Geneva.  It has a reputation for being a smaller, less pretentious, and less touristy city to enjoy the Swiss lakeside than its Genevan counterpart.  Lausanne has been the home of the International Olympic Committee since its inception in 1894 – I was able to get a sneak peek at the actual torch that will be carried for the 2012 London Opening Ceremony, as well as the gold, silver, and bronze medal casts at the Olympic Museum.
