I finished my central European voyage in Vienna, the City of Music. The city is an homage to the power and influence of the Hapsburg empire, who built and maintained their dynasty from Vienna. However, my efforts to be adopted into the Hapsburg family fortune fell flat.
The beautiful palaces and tranquil city center in early June is the perfect inspiration for Victorian romance and the cultured lifestyle of years gone by. Strolling through the streets, I found myself unconsciously humming Strauss’ The Blue Danube, imagining waltzing through a royal ball in my blue jeans and Nikes.
